Voter Guide: What to expect at Kimball, Banner County primary elections
The Primary Elections are coming up on Tuesday May 14.

Voting is open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. at your local voting poll locations. Under Nebraska’s new Voter ID law, you will need to bring a driver’s license or state ID with you.
In Kimball County, those in the first ward, second ward and Antelope vote at The Sagebrush, those in and around Dix vote at Dix Fire Hall, and those in and around Bushnell vote at Bushnell Fire Hall. Banner county voters will go to Banner County Courthouse.
The four candidates running for Kimball County Commissioner are: Republicans David Hottell, incumbent Carl Stander, Matt Bright, and Sarah Weisbrook.
The candidates running unopposed and moving onto the general election are as follows:
- Western Community College Board of Governors: John P. Stinner
- South Platte Natural Resources District Subdistrict 1 Board of Directors: Bill Halligan
- Kimball School District 1 Board Members: Britni Toth, Taylor Brown and Landon A. Smith
- Potter-Dix School District 9 Board Members: Colt M. Alexander, Royce McConnell and Trustin Vrtatko
- Kimball City Council Members: Jamie Murdoch and Austin Garner
- Airport Authority Board Member: Sarah Ludwig
The five candidates running for Representative in Congress District 3 are: Republican incumbent Adrian Smith, Republican John Walz, Republican Robert McCuiston, Democrat Daniel Ebers, and Democrat David Else.
Running for United States Senatorial positions are as follows:
- 2-year term U.S. Senator: The three Republican candidates are incumbent Pete Ricketts, John Glen Weaver, and Mac Stevens. Whoever wins will move onto the general election to face Democrat Preston Love Jr.
- 6-year term U.S. Senator: The two republican candidates are incumbent Deb Fischer and Arron Kowalski. The two Legal Marijuana NOW candidates are Kenneth Peterson and Kerry Eddy.
The Presidential candidates include three republicans, two democrats and six libertarians. The republican candidates are Donald Trump, Perry Johnson and Nikki Haley. The democratic candidates are incumbent Joe Biden and Dean Phillips. The libertarian candidates are Jacob Homberger, Lars Mapstead, Chase Russell Oliver, Michael Rectenwald, and Mike ter Maat.
