KIMBALL – A Kimball family is bringing a new restaurant to Kimball soon; an opening date has not been set yet.

Christina and Terry Taylor and Christina's son Tyson Culek are renovating a space downtown to open TT’s Hometown Pub & Grub.

The family wants to offer an additional family-friendly eating establishment in town.

Culek said, “The way I see it is you can’t go anywhere in town at noon and have a beer and a quick bite to eat, so I'm leaning on that.”

This will be an option for community members to have a place to go for their 30-minute lunch break.

It will have the set-up of a sports bar with a bar top and tables spread throughout, but it will have the atmosphere of a family-friendly restaurant. They will not offer a traditional bar drink selection; the drink menu will consist of beer and a limited selection of alcoholic beverages.

The food menu will start out with one size of pizza or pizza-by-the-slice and a variety of wings. As the business progresses, they will expand the menu items.

Christina said she wants to eventually have a slushy machine to offer slushies as their specialty drink.

They plan to be open Monday – Thursday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday 11 a.m. - midnight, and Sunday noon – 10 p.m.

“If we have a good crowd, we can stay open a little longer,” Culek said.

Chistina said the name is based on the idea from her grandson. When they asked him what it should be called, he said TT’s, so they went with it.

The space used to be a clothing store, so they needed to gut the entire building and start from scratch. They started renovations in February 2024.

Christina highlighted a few aspects of the pub: They will just be using air fryers and a conventional oven for cooking; the bar will be a step-up bar 6-7 inches off the ground; they will install new dim lighting to create a peaceful environment for dinnertime; the space will include coin-operated pool tables for entertainment.

Christina said overall, the place is coming together nicely. They have been in no rush to get it done by a specific date because they want to be sure everything is up-to-code.

“We’re building it right,” Culek said. “We are doing it so that we don’t have to do any more re-modeling in the future. When it’s open, it’s open.”

Culek said he plans to have two other phases following the opening of the pub. They will add a back patio with additional seating sometime next year. They will also add an entertainment space in the connected building next door that should be available to rent out by 2025.
