NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - An hours-long standoff Friday evening in North Platte resulted in the arrest of North Platte resident Marshall Gallegos.

North Platte Chief of Police Steve Reeves has informed KNOP that prior to the standoff, law enforcement was dispatched to the 300 Block of East 8th Street after receiving reports of an individual within a residence who had an outstanding warrant.

When Police arrived, Gallegos exited the house and was not cooperative with commands from law enforcement. He eventually fled the scene in a vehicle, nearly striking police in the process.

A pursuit ensued and ended along Sheridan & Front St. in western North Platte. However, when Gallegos arrived he retreated into a residence he had been staying at that belonged to his girlfriend.

When Gallegos did not follow commands from law enforcement, police made the decision to deploy a chemical agent into the home, in an attempt to resolve the issue peacefully, prior to forecasted severe weather in the area.

Despite the deployment of the chemical agent, the individual did not exit the residence, forcing law enforcement to enter to home. Gallegos was located under a bed and taken into custody without further incident.

After being taken to Great Plains Health for Medical treatment, Gallegos was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and faces several charges. The North Platte Police Department was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, and, the Nebraska State Patrol.
