BUSHNELL -- A Bushnell house was destroyed by fire on the evening of July 4, after which the owner was tazed and arrested.

Travis McDonald, 48, of Bushnell told the authorities that the fire started because he fell asleep with a cigarette. Kimball County Sheriff David Hottell said the fire crews were not able to corroborate that, so the official findings are undetermined.

McDonald was interfering and interrupting the firefighters who were putting out the fire, which resulted in his tazing and arrest by the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office.

Laramie County Fire Department, Bushnell Fire Department, Kimball Fire Department, Kimball EMS, Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, and Kimball Police Department responded to the call.

The call came in at 6 p.m. and the last fire crews left the scene at 10:45 p.m.

The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office says all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
