Two-motorcycle accident east of Sidney claims life of Kansas man
SIDNEY - A Kansas man died August 7 when two motorcycles collided east of Sidney at about 1:10 p.m. August 7.
Emergency personnel were called to mile marker 63 on U.S. Highway 30 at 1:12 p.m. The highway was closed in both directions from Link 17J in Sidney to County Road 125 until about 3:50 p.m.
Donald Sewell, 67, of Caney, Kan., was driving a 1995 FLHTC Electra motorcycle eastbound on U.S. 30 east of Sidney attempting a left turn at an historic marker near mile marker 63 as Bardin Kenneth Cade, 74, of Coffeyville, Kan., was driving a 2013 FLHRC Road King motorcycle behind him.
Cade's motorcycle collided with Sewell's motorcycle in the turn. Both riders were ejected from their motorcycles. Both motorcycles were described as totaled.
According to the accident report, no helmets were worn.
Sidney Volunteer Fire, Morrill County Ambulance Service, Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Transportation responded to the scene.
