Driver dies in two pickup collision

GERING -- Just before 8 a.m. today, Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) was contacted about a crash that had just occurred on Kimball Avenue in Gering, near 10th street. Preliminary investigation shows a Ford Ranger pickup driven by James Jackson, 18, of Gering, was traveling northbound when it was struck from behind by a Ram 2500 pickup driven by .

The driver of the Ranger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ram was ejected from his vehicle and was transported to Regional West Hospital with serious injuries. Names are being withheld at this time pending family notification protocols. The crash remains under investigation.

Alcohol and excessive speed are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.

NSP investigates accident south of Wildcat Hills

NSP was alerted to a crash approximately five miles south of Gering on Highway 71 at about 10:20 a.m., preliminary investigation shows that a Jeep Grand Cherokee was southbound on Highway 71 and attempted to perform a U-Turn. While attempting the turn, the vehicle struck a passing semi. The driver of the Jeep was transported to Regional West with serious injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured. The crash is still under investigation.

Serious injuries reported pickup truck, motorcycle collision 

SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY -- Preliminary investigation shows that at approximately 11:30 a.m. MT, a Toyota Tundra was eastbound in the driving lane of Highway 26. The pickup then attempted to turn north onto County Road 11. As the pickup attempted to turn, it struck a motorcycle traveling eastbound in the passing lane of Highway 26. Both occupants of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and were transported to Regional West. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
