Leyton starts 1-0 in the 2024 season
DALTON - Junior Alec Watchorn rushed for 136 yards, passed for 114, and received 56 for a total of 306 yards, and the Leyton football team goes 1-0 with a 42-14 win over Fleming on Friday in Dalton.
Watchorn also helped with all 5 of the Warriors touchdowns passing for 2, rushing for 2, and receiving for one. Sophomore Austin Buetler threw 110 yards on 8-14 with 1 passing touchdown.
Junior Jeremiah Hajek and freshman Colt Van Anne contributed a touchdown.
Leyton passed 11-18 for 226 yards, rushed 24 attempts for 132 yards for a total of 358 yards and totaled 5 touchdowns. The Warriors also forced 2 safeties.
Leyton (1-0) will travel to Sioux County to take on the 1-0 Warriors on Friday, September 6th.
Fleming, CO finished with a total of 194 yards, rushing for 102 yards and passing 92. Sophomore Treyson Kirkwood led the way passing 5-14 for 92 yards and throwing for two touchdowns.
The Wildcats threw 5-14 for 92 yards and rushed 39 times for 102 yards for a total of 194 and 2 touchdowns.
The Wildcats (0-1) will host Wauneta-Palisade Friday, September 6th in Fleming.
