SIDNEY - City of Sidney Police Chief Joe Aikens was placed on administrative leave this week. The nature of the leave was not disclosed.

Sidney City Manager David Scott declined to provide further details regarding the reason behind Aiken's leave and potential next steps when contacted for additional comment by News Channel Nebraska.

"Not at this time," Scott said. "Sam Lovato is acting as interim police chief. Operations at the police station will proceed as normal."
