Kimball man dies in truck-pickup accident
KIMBALL COUNTY, Neb. - Emergency services responded to a serious vehicle accident involving a semi-tractor-trail and a pickup on Interstate 80 in Kimball County on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred in a construction zone at mile marker 18 where two-way traffic is in place. Both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-80 were closed between mile marker 16 and 19 until approximately 8 p.m. Traffic was diverted to Highway 30 during the closure.
At about 4:20 p.m., an eastbound pickup truck crossed the center line in the construction zone and collided with a truck-trailer.
The driver of the pickup, Chad Cook of Kimball, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
