DALTON - Leyton forced three consecutive turnovers and powered passed Potter-Dix, 47-32, in the two team's first meeting on the football field in nine years on Friday afternoon in Dalton. 

The Warriors were led by junior Alec Watchorn, who recorded two interceptions and contributed two touchdowns, helping Leyton jump to a 19-0 lead. He a game-high 350 total yards, including 16 rushes for 188 yards, 7-of-10 passing for 167 yards and five total touchdowns. 

Freshman Colt Van Anne added an early score. He finished with 122 yards on seven carries. Junior Jeremiah Hajek pulled in three receptions for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Austin Beutler chipped in with four receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.

The Warriors had a total of 491 yards—320 on the ground from 28 rushes and 171 through the air, going 9-of-17 in passing.

For the Coyotes, junior Dylan Tabor rushed for 196 yards and all five of Potter-Dix’s touchdowns. Tabor also completed 6-of-12 passes for 84 yards, finishing with 280 total yards of offense. Freshman Calen McConnell added 77 total yards.

The Coyotes finished the game with 371 yards of total offense, rushing 38 times for 237 yards and passing 9-of-17 for 134 yards.

Leyton improves to 3-1 and will remain in Dalton for their next matchup against Creek Valley (1-2) on next Friday at 7 p.m. Potter-Dix now falls to 2-2 on the season and will look to bounce back when they host the undefeated Garden County Eagles (4-0) next Thursday at 7 p.m.

Following Friday's game, Leyton celebrated Homecoming with Shawnee Gamble being crowned the 2024 Queen and Isaac Lipska named King.
