LeRoy Batt, 81, of Pine Bluffs, WY., died peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Kimball County Manor. Cremation will take place, with memorial services to be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball, followed by a reception and lunch at the Pine Bluffs Senior Center. LeRoy was born on May 30, 1943 in Sidney, Nebraska, the son of Herman and Freda (Libsack) Batt.  He was raised in Sidney and graduated from Sidney High School in 1961. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962, proudly serving on the USS Midway and the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge in 1966, he married Jeanine Blue in Sterling, Colorado, on July 6, 1966, beginning a lifelong partnership.

The family moved to Dix, where LeRoy farmed for the Johnson family in Dix, NE, and also worked in Potter, NE for Benny Herboldsheimer, farming and manufacturing tractor AC units. In the 1970s, he joined M&S Drilling, drilling water wells. This led later to a job working on oil rigs in Libya, Africa. Afterward, he worked for the Co-op in Sidney, specifically in their fertilizer division, and in 1998, he moved to Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, continuing his career with the Co-op. Later, LeRoy joined Clean Harbors in Kimball, NE, where he worked until his retirement in 2008, although he continued part-time with the Co-op after retiring.

LeRoy was a man of many talents and enjoyed small construction projects, always working on his homes. He loved spending time outdoors, camping, and enjoying nature with family and friends. His warmth, skills, and adventurous spirit will be missed by all who knew him. LeRoy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for his family, and service to his country.

Survivors include his children Scott (Stephanie) Batt of Houston, TX., Skipp Batt of Potter, NE., Shelli Batt of Pine Bluffs, WY., and his brother, Rocky Batt. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandparents George and Elizabeth Batt and Henry and Anna Libsack, and 4 siblings Loretta Batt, Jack Batt, Robert Batt and Jean Batt.
