SIDNEY - Get your costumes ready.

The City of Sidney is preparing to host the 22024 Trunk-or-Treat event on Halloween, promising an evening packed with candy, costumes and community spirit. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Halloween.

The procession of candy-filled trunks will start at the west corner of 10th Avenue and Illinois Street.at the west corner of 10th Avenue and Illinois Street.

Event organizer Kim Phillips is thrilled with the participation this year, including several large trailers bringing extra flair to the lineup. She encourages attendees to prepare for Sidney’s fall weather.

“It’s going to be a little chilly, so dress accordingly,” Phillips advised.

The forecast calls for temperatures to be in the lower to mid-50s during the annual event. 

10th Avenue north of Illinois Street will close at 11 a.m. Thursday, including the parking lots at 10th and Hickory Street, to allow for setup ahead of the 4 p.m. start.

Halloween excitement will continue at the Sidney Elks Lodge from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., where the public can join a meet-and-greet with the Sidney High School football team. Community members are invited to wish the team well before their playoff game vs. Omaha Roncalli Catholic on Friday, with the opportunity to collect autographs on footballs or shirts.
