KIMBALL COUNTY -- A Dix woman was life flighted following a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 71 south of the Nebraska state line Wednesday morning.

Just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning, a woman was traveling on Highway 71 when she lost control of her vehicle, it rolled several times, and she was ejected.

Kimball County Sheriff David Hottell suspects the icy road was the contributing factor to the accident.

The Kimball EMS, Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, Air Link, New Raymer Fire Department and EMS, Weld County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol responded to the incident.

Kimball EMS ground transported the woman to Oliver Reservoir where Air Link met them.

Due to weather conditions, the airport and the hospital helipad weren’t a feasible option. The helicopter pilot made the determination that the weather was more favorable at the lake for a safe landing.

She was life-flighted to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff in critical condition. The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing her name at this time.

The Kimball Sheriff’s Office advises drivers to be safe and buckle up with the changing weather conditions.
