Colorado State Troopers team up with local law enforcement partners to stop impaired drivers

Weekend surge enforcement set for Larimer County
COLORADO -- The Colorado State Patrol will conduct increased patrols throughout Larimer County from Friday, November 15, through Sunday morning, November 17.
This operation is focused on deterring impaired driving throughout Larimer County’s major traffic arteries and feeder roads. An increased CSP presence will be noticed around the Colorado State University versus the University of Wyoming “Border War” football game. While impaired driving will be the focus, any dangerous driving behavior observed or reported will be addressed.
Larimer County has experienced 67 fatality crashes and 327 crashes where occupants sustained serious bodily injury since 2020. That's 67 families who have been devastated by the loss of a loved one and at least 327 others who have suffered serious trauma, some life-altering. Most of these incidents occurred on Fridays and Saturdays, late afternoons and evenings.
The leading causal factors for these crashes were distracted driving, lane violations and impaired driving. This special operation is dedicated to stopping impaired driving "in its tracks" to save lives. State troopers will be dedicated to the detection and apprehension of drivers who may be impaired by or otherwise under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination of these substances.
We are asking the public for assistance in reporting suspected impaired drivers. The driver should be avoided by getting out of the way. Then, contact the Colorado State Patrol after you pull over by calling *CSP (*277), 9-1-1, or 719-589-5807. Be prepared to provide the following information: vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, driver description, and the driving behavior being demonstrated. All emergency calls can be made to 9-1-1.
