Troopers arrest Mitchell man involved in fatal Morrill County crash
MORRILL COUNTY - Authorities arrested a Mitchell man following a fatal crash on Highway 385 in Morrill County on Tuesday afternoon.
The Nebraska State Patrol says a 2020 Chevrolet Express delivery van, driven by Daniel Flores, 21, was traveling southbound on the highway when he failed to slow down for a stopped Ford F-150 pickup. The pickup, driven by Kim Wills, 65, of Alliance, was stopped to allow cattle to cross the highway near mile marker 93.
Flores attempted to switch lanes to avoid the pickup by collided with it at approximately 2:26 p.m.
Wills received CPR on the scene before being transported to Morrill County Community Hospital by medical ambulance, where she was pronounced dead.
Flores was taken into custody on charges of motor vehicle homicide and careless driving. He's currently lodged in the Morrill County Jail.
The Morrill County Sheriff’s Office and the Morrill County Attorney’s Office also responded to the incident.
