SIDNEY, Neb. - A routine traffic stop turned into a brief vehicle pursuit early Thursday morning in Sidney, ending with the arrest of the driver.

According to the Sidney Police Department, officers observed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign around 1:30 a.m. While attempting to initiate a traffic stop, the driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit. The chase ended when the vehicle struck a curb near the 13th Street bridge, leaving it inoperable.

The driver attempted to escape on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers. Authorities have forwarded the case to the Cheyenne County Attorney’s Office for review.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released. The driver was lodged into the Cheyenne County Jail.
