SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District Board of Education recognized the November Students of the Month during the December 9 board of education meeting.

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. 
 
These criteria are:
 
1. Superior academic performance, (or) dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A., or attitude toward learning; 2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project; 3. Outstanding contribution toward to the class; 4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school; 5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled and 6. Service to school.
 
Recognized for the April 2024 Performance Awards are:
 
7th Grade: Sarah Anderson -- We find Sarah to be a very friendly and positive student who always strives to do her best. The accountability she demonstrates in the classroom send out a very positive message to other students and to her teachers. She maintains an A-average while also participating in Middle School activities. Sarah is the daughter of Tyrell and Nichole Anderson.
 
8th Grade: Josi Witte -- Josi is very active in the school by taking part in sports and activities. She has been a very leader and a strong student in the classroom this year. Thank you, Josi, for being a great student and a leader in the classroom. Keep working hard. Josi is the daughter of Tony and Jennifer Witte.
 
9th Grade: Jasper Gulbranson -- Jasper is a key member of the SHS Play Production team, winning Outstanding Performer awards at each of the contests the team has competed in so far this year. He is a very dedicated member of the team, rarely missing practice. Jasper is also a member of the Student Council, is a Class of 2028 class officer, a member of Sidney State of Mind, the Raider band an Cross Country. He is the son of Rusty and Lacey Gulbranson.
 
10th Grade: Emily Bashtovoi -- Emily is an excellent student who is kind and helpful to others and stands out both personally and academically. She is not only dedicated to her own learning but also contributes positively to the learning environment with her kindness and willingness to help others. Emily is the daughter of Denis and Amy Bashtovoi.
 
11th Grade: Kennedy Hobson -- Kennedy comes to class prepared and ready to learn each day, and maintains a great attitude both inside and outside of class. She has a very busy schedule and prioritizes her schoolwork. She has recently earned outstanding actor awards for one act competitions. Kennedy is the daughter of Dane and Tiffany Hobson.
 
12th Grade: Reid Fiscus -- Reid is an excellent student, outstanding athlete and a very kind and respectful young man. Reid consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership and responsibility in the classroom. He is respectful toward both his peers and teachers, always setting a positive example for others. Reid actively participates in classroom discussions, offering thoughtful insights and contributing to a collaborative learning environment. His commitment to his studies is evident in his consistent completion of assignments on tine and with great attention to detail. Reid is not afraid to ask for help when needed, showing his dedication to understanding the material and improving his skills. Overall, Reid is a model student who exemplifies the values of respect, responsibility and hard work. He is a true asset to our class and thoroughly deserves this recognition. Reid is the son of Jeff and Ellen Fiscus.
