SIDNEY – The Sidney Red Raiders used a balanced attack and aggressive rebounding to improve to 4-0 on the season with a 73-64 win on Saturday over Colorado Class 3A top ranked Yuma at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility.

The two teams battled to an 18-18 tie after the first quarter. Sidney outscored Yuma 17-13 in the second period to take a 35-31 lead into intermission. Yuma cut the Sidney lead to one at 51-50 heading into the final stanza. As the Red Raiders did the night before at Chase County, Sidney saved their best quarter for the last, going on a 15-3 run to take a 13-point lead with two minutes remaining in the game.

Sidney’s had four players score in double figures while out-rebounding the Outlaws 38-23. Alek Doty paced Sidney with 17 points while Keian Kaiser added 14 points. Landon Riddle added 14 points and Reid Fiscus chipped in 11 for the Red Raiders. Yuma was led by junior Brody Sheffield’s game-high 22 points while Jonathan Thomson added 16 for the Outlaws.

Lady Raiders Rebound from First Loss, Defeat Yuma CO

SIDNEY – The Lady Raiders bounced back from their first loss of the season at Chase County on Friday with a convincing 52-27 win over Yuma Colorado on Saturday at the Cabela’s Athletic. Sidney, who held the Outlaws to single digit scoring in every quarter, turned a six-point halftime lead into a rout with a 33-14 second half.

The Lady Raiders had nine players score led by Kayla Westby’s 11 points while Kierra Schrader added 10 points in the win. Sidney, who improves to 3-1 on the season, will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Scottsbluff to face Cheyenne Central. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. at Scottsbluff High School.
