POTTER, Neb. – The Cheyenne County rivalry delivered mixed results Tuesday night in Potter.

The Leyton girls’ basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 59-11 victory over Potter-Dix. Senior Zaili Benish led the Warriors with a game-high 31 points, sinking six three-pointers. Seniors Shawnee Gamble added 16 points. Leyton’s defense forced 18 turnovers.

Senior Crystal Dhooge scored a team-high 8 points for the Coyotes (1-4).

In the boys’ matchup, Potter-Dix edged Leyton 55-52 to claim their first win of the season, improving to 1-3. Junior Landon Gasseling powered the Coyotes with a game-high 25 points, including 10 in the third quarter. Junior Dylan Tabor contributed 18 points, and sophomore Trenton Hickman added 9.

Leyton (1-4) was led by junior Alec Watchorn, who scored 17 points before fouling out late in the third quarter. Sophomore Calvin Borgmann chipped in 15 points and sophomore Austin Beutler finished with 8.

Leyton hosts Bayard in Dalton on Thursday in a girl, boy doubleheader.
