John B Gipfert, age 86, of Sidney, NE passed away peacefully at Sidney Regional Medical Center on Wednesday January 1, 2025.   A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 09, 2025 at the Faith Methodist Church in Sidney, NE with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website. 

  Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday January 08, 2025 from 1-6:00 P.M.  and family will not be present.  You may view John's Book of Memories, and leave condolences, photos and stories at www.gehrigstittchapel.com.  Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of John’s care and funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made John's name to the Faith Methodist Church in Sidney, NE.

John B. Gipfert was born to William and Blanche Gipfert south of Lodgepole, NE on the homestead.  He had 2 older brothers and 4 sisters.  John attended school and later moved to Sidney and graduated from Sidney Public Schools.  He was employed with Bauerkemper Motors for 1 1/2 years.  Then went to work for Sidney Implement from 1960-1984, for 24 years.  He was self-employed with John's Repair in 1985 and was a proud business owner until 2019.  At this time, he retired to enjoy the rest of his life with Barb Gipfert, his wife of 63 years.  John and Barb were married on June 22, 1958.  To this union were born two daughters.

John is survived by his daughters, Candy and husband Gevan Christensen of Potter, NE and Cassie Travis of Portland, OR.  He has 3 grandchildren Brandee and DL (Donald) Christensen (Brandi), Kellan Travis (Dakota).  He has 3 great grandchildren, Avrilynne, Owen, and Wyatt of which he was very proud of all.  He has one sister Maxine and husband Jim Brooks surviving. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. 

John is preceded in death by his parents William and Blanche, wife Barb, and 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
