TILDEN - Class C2 #3 Elkhorn Valley wasted no time taking control of Hartington-Newcastle on Friday.

The Falcons scored the first 19 points and never looked back, routing the Wildcats 61-22.

Elkhorn Valley's smothering defense was the key, forcing 28 turnovers and holding Hartington-Newcastle to 25 percent shooting from the field.

The Falcons held an opponent under 25 points for the fifth time this season in eleven games.

Friday was the first ever matchup between the two schools, who are charter members of the new Greater Northeast Activities Conference.
