Strommen takes oath as state senator for District 47
LINCOLN, Neb. — Paul Strommen, newly elected Nebraska State Senator for District 47, officially began his legislative duties on Wednesday, Jan. 8 as the 109th legislative session commenced.
Strommen, who was elected on Nov. 5, 2024, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the district and outlined his commitment to serving with integrity and optimism.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as your new State Senator for District 47,” Strommen said in a statement. “I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me to represent our community in the Nebraska State Senate.”
Strommen shared the first day of the session was a memorable occasion, made special by the presence of his wife, Kendra, his parents, and Kendra’s family. “I am grateful for their love and encouragement as I take on this new role,” he said.
The senator also paid tribute to his predecessor, Sen. Steve Erdman, who served the district for eight years. Strommen praised Erdman’s dedication and expressed his intent to build upon his legacy.
District 47, which Strommen now represents, is one of Nebraska’s largest and most diverse legislative districts, encompassing Sioux, Box Butte, Morrill, Cheyenne, Garden, Deuel, Grant, Arthur, and Keith Counties. Strommen emphasized his commitment to ensuring the voices of all residents are heard.
As the session gets underway, Strommen has been appointed to the influential Appropriations Committee, a key body responsible for shaping the state’s budget and financial policies. He encouraged constituents to connect with him, either by visiting his office at Room 1321 in the Capitol or by sharing their thoughts and concerns.
“I look forward to serving you with dedication and optimism as we tackle the challenges ahead,” Strommen said. “Together, we can work toward solutions that benefit our community and all of Nebraska.”
The 109th legislative session spans 90 days, during which lawmakers will address significant issues affecting the state. Strommen joins a mix of seasoned and newly elected senators working to shape Nebraska’s future.
