SIDNEY -- The Sidney Police Department and Sidney Volunteer Firefighters went to-to-toe in a challenge supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The department who raised the most donations were given the opportunity to plant a pie in the face of one of the competing department's officers. This year, the Police Department had the honor of giving the pie in the face of their friendly competitors.

"We had a blast supporting Make-A-Wish at Alta Convenience Store! Huge thanks to Alta for including us in this amazing fundraiser. It was an honor competing alongside (and against!) the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department for such a great cause," Interim Police Chief Sam Lovato said after the event.

Lovato also thanks the Sidney residents for their generosity in helping raise more than $4,300.

"We're already looking forward to next year and are so proud to be part of this community," he said.

Police Department donations came to a total of $103.63 and for the Fire Department $84.65. The Alta Convenience Store had other fund raising programs during December in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
