SCOTTSBLUFF -- A Scottsbluff resident is calling for all those interested in crocheting, whether they are a beginner or experienced and looking to further their skills.

Tera Olds found her passion for crocheting over 20 years ago and has since crocheted all sorts of items like plushies, dolls, baskets, and hats.

Her latest favorite thing to crochet is dragon plushies.

“I like to make bigger plushies; they’re pretty big, about 3-4 feet long,” she says.

Olds decided to spread her love for the art by teaching a workshop where she will assist people in crocheting a hat.

The workshop will be held at Papa Moon Craft Ciders in Scottsbluff on Saturday, Jan. 18 from noon – 4 p.m. It costs $40 per person, and includes a crochet hook, yarn, pattern and a drink.

Olds says she hopes to turn this one-time workshop into a series of workshops in the future if enough people are interested in joining.

“I wanted to host this because people always tell me that they want to learn how to crochet so I thought if I set a time and date, that would have people commit to it and come out and crochet,” she said.

The workshop is great for beginners because it will be a small group, so Olds will be able to work one-on-one with people throughout the class.

Olds says crocheting provides an outlet for escape similar to reading a book or other artistic hobbies  and is a great mood booster.

"You get to sit down and focus on a project,” she says. “Plus, it is always fun to sit down and create something fun.”

The deadline to register for the workshop is Thursday, Jan. 16. Visit the event post on Facebook to register. For any questions, email Olds at [email protected].
