VALENTINE, Neb. - A Valentine man is the new Cherry County Highway Superintendent. J.D. Osburn has worked for the department for six years, including three years as a foreman. Osburn also holds a Class B license, meeting the state’s qualifications for the role.

During Tuesday’s County Commission meeting, commissioners appointed Osburn to the position, while omitting the position of supervisor. Doug Boyer recently retired from the supervisor position, and commissioners reassigned those responsibilities to the superintendent role.
