Sidney Basketball Teams Sweep North Platte
NORTH PLATTE – The Sidney Lady Raiders and Red Raiders traveled to North Platte Saturday afternoon following hard fought games the night before at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility. The Lady Raiders used a big third quarter overcome a dismal shooting performance in the first half to notch their eighth straight win, 41-27 over the Bulldogs, while the Red Raiders never trailed in the game and stopped a three-game losing streak with a 55-48 win over North Platte.
The Lady Raiders hit just four of 29 shots from the floor, including 0 for 14 from outside the arc, before intermission to trail North Platte 15-11 at the half. But Sidney turned eight Bulldog turnovers into a huge third quarter as Sidney scored 23 points while holding North Platte to just four points to seize control of the game, 34-19 heading into the final period.
The Lady Raiders, who improve to 12-3 on the season, were led by Kierra Schrader with 15 points while Kayla Westby added 11 points. Senior Abby Kaminski paced the Bulldogs with 14 points.

The Red Raiders got back on the winning track Saturday with a workman-like performance against the North Platte. The Bulldogs were coming off of their first win of the season on the road at Lexington Friday night, kept the game within striking distance all night. Sidney, who averages just 11.5 turnovers per game, committed 18 turnovers in the game.
The Red Raiders took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter, 40-30. The Bulldogs cut the Sidney lead to three points, 47-44 with 2:30 remaining in the game. The Red Raiders, who have struggled from time-to-time from the free throw line, made nine of their 13 attempts in the final; stanza to close out a 55-48 win.
Sidney improved to 10-4 on the season. The Red Raiders were paced by Alek Doty’s 17 points. Keian Kaiser added 11 points in the win. Junior Kaleib Odell came off the bench to hit four three pointers to lead the bulldogs with 12 points.
