SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce recognized community leaders, visionaries and supporters at the annual Awards Banquet Saturday night.

The night of celebrating achievements, honoring community leaders and entrepreneurs took place at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds.

The New Business of the Year award went to Elston House. Matt and Sarah Elston opened Elston House in early 2024 as a creative space that offers hands-on art including pottery, as well as a variety of retail.

When they opened, Sarah Elston said the vision is a place that has multiple art and elements, and retail. They offer pottery and accessories, a seating area, retail displays for local home businesses. 

Outstanding Customer Service Award went to Modern Moves Dance Studio.

The Citizen of the Year Award was awarded to Tim Craig. He was recognized as a man who has worn many hats including veteran, law enforcement and business leader. He is recognized for leadership, compassion and dedication. He also volunteers with different organizations.

The Business Revitalization Award went to Stan and Melissa Norgard and Boss City Brewing. The Norgards purchased the Sam & Louie's Pizzeria franchise, then took on renovating the building at 12th and Jackson Street into an open-air brewery and bar. 

The Economic Development Project of the Year award went to Adams Industries. Their partnership with Simplot has resulted in a $6 million liquid fertilizer facility northwest of Sidney.

The Community Impact Award was presented to Sidney Regional Medical Center, recognizing it opening the new Long-Term Care Center adjacent to the hospital. 

The Community Leader Award was presented to Hunter Arterburn, Station Manager for Flood Communications - Western Nebraska, which includes radio station 987 The Big Boy and Cheyenne County Country. 

“There’s no community leader award without a great community of people, supporters and coworkers backing you," Arterburn said. "We’re blessed to live in, work with and serve the best communities in the region. Honored and humbled to receive this recognition from the Cheyenne County Chamber. Thank you for making the return to subzero temperatures a little less painful,” 

The E.K. Yanney Award went to E3 Navigator Alisha Juelfs. The E.K. Yanney Award honors E.K. Yanney, a banker Lodgepole banker who believed in giving back to his community. Juelfs was recognized for her role as Navigator and helping businesses and entrepreneurs across the county in progressive growth. 

The Heroes Among Us Award was presented to PlainsWest CASA. CASA, Court-Appointed Special Advocate, is a program of volunteers who advocate for children in the court system, in addition to several other services.

The Ralph Olson Award, the Chamber Board Member of the Year, went to Becky Rowan and the Ambassador of the Year Award went to Michaela Nelson.

Chamber Supporter of the Year Award went to Points West Bank.
