Law enforcement investigating child endangerment reports

Law enforcement are investigating reports of potential child endangerment on social media.

SIDNEY -- The Sidney Police Department is reporting multiple reports from residents of potential child endangerment.

The concerns were raised regarding the social media platform Facebook, according to a Sidney Police Department statement. The announcement was made by police at about 7:50 pm. tonight, January 20.

"Our office has received multiple reports from concerned residents regarding
potential child endangerment concerns raised on the social media platform
Facebook. We deeply appreciate the commitment to community safety demonstrated by these individuals," Interim Chief Sam Lovato said in a statement on social media.
 
He said the police department is actively engaged with all relevant parties to gather information directly from the source. The situation will be investigated thoroughly in
accordance with the Nebraska Revised Statutes (N.R.S.), the statement says.
 
Sidney police are asking the community to allow authorities to conduct a proper and thorough investigation.
