Man arrested after disturbance at Alliance motel

ALLIANCE, Neb. – A man was taken into custody Thursday morning after a disturbance at the Rainbow Motel in Alliance led to a police pursuit and arrest.
According to the Alliance Police Department, officers were dispatched to the motel at approximately 8:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a man attempting to force his way into a room. The caller stated the suspect was kicking on the door in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as 32-year-old George L. Boyd III. Police said Boyd appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, exhibiting erratic behavior and making unusual statements. At one point, Boyd allegedly claimed to be a “Federal Agent.” Officers also observed what appeared to be a marijuana blunt in his hand.
When officers attempted to take Boyd into custody, he resisted and fled on foot, leading officers on a chase into the 400 block of Toluca Avenue. An officer deployed a Bolawrap—a handheld restraint device that fires a Kevlar tether—to detain him. As police attempted to arrest him, Boyd allegedly swung at an officer while holding an unidentified object.
Additional officers and Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrived on scene, and a second Bolawrap was deployed, successfully subduing Boyd. The device is designed to restrain individuals without causing pain or injury, reducing the need for more forceful interventions.
During a search of Boyd, officers recovered methamphetamine, marijuana paraphernalia and a small quantity of marijuana.
Boyd was transported to the Box Butte County Jail, where he faces multiple charges, including disturbing the peace, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana (one ounce or less) and possession or use of drug paraphernalia.
