Beckett's surgery a success as community rallies for "Beckett Tough" Fundraiser

SIDNEY, Neb. — A wave of relief and celebration swept through the Lodgepole and Sidney communities after an update from Beckett Block’s mother, Jacki, revealed his tumor removal surgery was a complete success.
Beckett, who was diagnosed with high-risk stage 4 neuroblastoma, underwent surgery with hopes at least 90% of the tumor could be removed without causing damage to vital organs. In what Jacki described as “the best possible outcome,” doctors discovered the tumor was free-floating in his body above his kidney and had only attached to a single vein. As a result, surgeons were able to remove 100% of the tumor with no damage to his kidney or liver.
"Everything went absolutely amazing, and he is on his way to recovery," Jacki shared in an update. "You all mean the world to us keeping Beckett in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to every single one of you."
As Beckett begins his recovery journey, the community is coming together to support the Block family with a fundraiser dinner and auction on Friday at the Sidney Elk’s Lodge, 1040 Jackson St. The "Beckett Tough" event will feature a freewill donation dinner, cash bar, raffle, and both silent and live auctions. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with dinner served from 5 to 7 p.m. and the auction to follow.
Beckett, the two-year-old son of BJ and Jacki Block, has been undergoing an intensive treatment plan involving high-dose chemotherapy, surgeries and a bone marrow transplant after doctors originally discovered a tumor on his kidney that had spread to his skull and bones. His parents, BJ, a UPS driver, and Jacki, an administrative assistant and nurse aide at Sidney Regional Medical Center Pole Creek Estates, have been by his side every step of the way.
Before his diagnosis, Beckett was like any other young boy—playing in the dirt with his trucks, watching trains and following his dad everywhere he went. In August 2024, he also became a big brother to Rowan, who was born prematurely and spent 39 days in the NICU. The two formed an instant bond, though their time together has been limited due to Beckett's ongoing medical treatments at Children’s Hospital in Denver.
Community members are encouraged to attend the fundraiser and show their support for the Block family. Those unable to attend can still contribute by contacting event organizers Carolyn Stoll at (308) 249-0976 or Gina Christensen at (308) 249-6435.

A t-shirt fundraiser is also going on through Shirt Tales where people can purchase shirts with Beckett's official "Beckett Tough" logo on them. Proceeds from the shirt sales go directly to the family.
