SIDNEY -- Electricity Superintendent Tom Mathine presented the Sidney Council with a check for $32,777 in the March 25 council meeting.

"The Choice Gas Program is an annual program that gives customers an opportunity to choose a natural gas supplier that provides a pricing option that best fits their needs. Customers in the Choice Gas Program have the unique opportunity, something not everyone has, you have the power to choose your natural gas supplier, and what you want to pay for your natural gas," Mathine said at the council meeting.

Mathine said in the January board of directors meeting, it was decided to return $400,000 back to its members. The check for $32,777 is Sidney's share of the $400,000.

The 2025 selection period is set for April 3 to April 23. Mathine and Mike Palmer will be hosting an open house on ACE 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, at city hall.

ACE'S revenue return program has put more than $4 million dollars into Nebraska communities since 1998. Projects have included: parks, playground equipment, trails, lighting and historical building upgrades that were funded through this program.
