New severe thunderstorm warning issued for Cheyenne, Kimball, Morrill and Banner Counties

KIMBALL, Neb. – Another severe thunderstorm warning was issued Monday night as hail continued to impact western Nebraska. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne issued the latest warning at 8:12 p.m., extending until 8:45 p.m.
At the time of the alert, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles southwest of Redington, or about 20 miles northeast of Kimball, moving northeast at 35 miles per hour. Radar indicated the storm was capable of producing half-dollar size hail, or approximately 1.25 inches in diameter.
The storm is expected to impact several communities in the path, including Bridgeport, Gurley, Dix, Dalton, Potter, Brownson and Kimball, as well as Chimney Rock National Historic Site, Courthouse and Jail Rock and the Bridgeport State Recreation Area.
The warning affects northern Cheyenne County, northeastern Kimball County, southwestern Morrill County and eastern Banner County.
Forecasters caution that hail of this size may result in vehicle damage, and residents are advised to take cover in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building until the warning expires.
