Peterson no longer Mitchell Police Chief

MITCHELL, Neb. -- The City of Mitchell is seeking a new police chief.
Mayor Paul Murrell issued a statement Monday, April 14, that Dominick Peterson is no longer the city’s police chief. He told News Channel Nebraska that he could not say more than what has been released.
On Aug. 7, 2024, a “Petition and Affidavit to Obtain Sexual Assault Protection Order” was filed by a Scottsbluff woman. The Order was issued following a pattern of harassment and stalking, according to court records. Court records also show he asked a Scottsbluff woman for "explicit photos."
A hearing was scheduled for Aug. 23, 2024, in Scotts Bluff County District Court.
Murrell said he could not disclose more than what has been released. The City of Mitchell will begin its newest search for a police chief. Peterson is the third police chief since early 2023.
