‘Kid-Trepreneur’ trade show draws curious, shoppers
SIDNEY – The Elks Lodge in Sidney again hosted the “Kid-Trepreneur” expo.
The event is an opportunity for homeschool students to apply what they’ve learned and in class.
Jill Sauder, owner of Savor and Grace and a parent within the homeschool organization, said parents are expected to share some of their skills with students. Hers is business and marketing. She also oversees the kid-trepreneur program and event.
“This year was a great turnout. We had 22 vendors, ages from 8 to 17 years old; great turnout with the kiddos. They had some really awesome stations set up – their businesses they’ve been working on,” Sauder said.
She said the list of items and services varied from fishing tackle, crocheted items, baked items, homemade soaps and candles, jewelry and one girl who is entering the dairy business, offering raw milk. Amanda Fehringer said having raw milk accessible to her is personal as well as a business venture. She sold candles and introduced the public to her raw milk venture.
“Behind the candles, I’m running a dairy, a raw milk dairy, for those who can’t have pasteurized or homogenized milk. The reason why I’m doing this dairy is I can’t have homogenized or pasteurized milk from the store,” Fehringer said.
