SIDNEY, Neb. — May 14, 2025 — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for portions of the Nebraska Panhandle and northeast Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.

Counties included in the watch are Cheyenne, Deuel, Dundy, Garden, Kimball and Morrill in Nebraska, along with Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma in Colorado.

Forecasters say the region will experience showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening as a cold front moves through, bringing much cooler temperatures behind it.

Looking ahead, the NWS is warning of very windy conditions across southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska Panhandle on Thursday. West to northwest winds between 25 and 40 miles per hour, with gusts up to 55 mph, are expected — especially along I-25 and the I-80 Summit.

There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms over the weekend, with storm coverage expected to increase late Sunday into early next week.
