Col. Terrance Holmes named Commander of 90th Missile Wing at F.E Warren Air Force Base

CHEYENNE, WY -- Thursday marked the beginning of Col. Terrance Holmes’ role as the 90th Missile Wing Commander.
At the Change-of-Command Ceremony at the F.E. Warren Air Force Base Thursday morning, Col. Holmes said, “I am extremely honored and humbled to be standing here before you as the Commander of the 90th Missile Wing – ‘The Mighty 90.’”
His speech followed the ceremonial passing of the unit flag from previous Commander Col. Johnny Galbert to Maj. Gen. Stacy Jo Huser, Commander of the 20th Air Force, who then passed the flag to Holmes as the new commander.
“This is the one base I haven’t been stationed at in the nuclear enterprise,” Holmes told News Channel Nebraska. “I’ve been trying to get here before I retire; I got more years behind me than in front of me, and I finally got here.”
While he may be stationed in Cheyenne, his connections span over the border into Nebraska as that is where a large part of their mission is happening.
“Most of our ICBM fields reside in Nebraska, so having the support of the communities in Nebraska is a huge deal,” Holmes said. “The Minuteman III mission is a very important, very effective mission that we have to continue through this transition. It will have a significant impact on the local communities, and I’m not super concerned about that because of how welcoming the communities are for the current mission.”
Holmes already has close ties to Nebraska, as he and his wife got married in York, and he was previously stationed in Omaha.
"I'm a huge fan of Nebraska, and I look forward to working with the locals on the west side of the state," He said.
Holmes also thanked Kimball Mayor John Morrison and his wife Karen for attending the ceremony to welcome him to his new position.
Morrison said, “I was able to meet Col. Holmes face-to-face, and I look forward to keeping in contact with him, so he knows we appreciate the Air Force, and we support what they’re doing.”
