UPDATE: Hastings infant dies after being left in hot car

HASTINGS, Neb. – A 5-month old boy lost his life Monday after he was left in a hot car by one of his parents in Hastings.
According to the Hastings Police Department, first responders were called to a building on S Elm Ave around 5 p.m. on a report of an unresponsive infant in a parked vehicle.
HPD officers were the first to arrive and began life-saving measures on the child, until Hastings Fire and Rescue arrived and assumed medical care.
Authorities say the infant boy was transported to Mary Lanning Healthcare, where he was pronounced deceased due to extreme heat exposure.
At this time, it's unknown how long the child was left in the car for.
After an investigation, the boy's father, 36-year old Jeremy Hansen was arrested on charges of negligent child abuse.
As of Tuesday morning, a court date or official charges haven't been posted against Hansen.
