MCGREW — The Nebraska State Patrol has identified the two people killed in last week’s head-on collision on Highway 92 near McGrew as Richard Scoggins, 45, and Renee Sanstad, 52, both of Sidney.

The crash was reported around 4:25 p.m. MT Wednesday. According to NSP spokesman Cody Thomas, a preliminary investigation indicates a Nissan Rogue crossed the center line and struck an oncoming semi-truck. Scoggins, the driver, and Sanstad, the passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was taken to Regional West Medical Center with minor injuries.

Troopers and Scotts Bluff County deputies responded, along with the Minatare and McGrew Volunteer Fire Departments. The State Patrol says the investigation remains ongoing.
