SIDNEY - The Sidney Lady Raiders improved to 3-0 Tuesday night with a dominant 57-16 win over Chase County, holding the Longhorns to single-digit scoring in every quarter.

Sidney jumped out quickly, scoring the first 11 points of the game and building a 13-2 lead after the opening period. The Lady Raiders continued to control the pace in the second quarter and took a 23-6 advantage into halftime.

Sidney placed three players in double figures, with Khloe Schrader, Kierra Schrader, and Reagan Nesbitt each scoring 10 points. Nesbitt added 11 rebounds to record a double-double. Alex Reeves led Chase County with five points.

In the boys game, Chase County earned its first win of the season, edging Sidney 42-38 in a back-and-forth contest between two teams that entered the night at 0-2.

The Longhorns held an 8-6 lead after the first quarter, and after the game was tied at 15 late in the second quarter, Chase County knocked down two three-pointers to take a 21-15 halftime lead. The Longhorns pushed their advantage to 24-17 in the third quarter and led 28-23 heading into the final period.

Sidney rallied in the fourth, taking a 29-28 lead with 6:36 remaining and later going on top 38-36 with 1:25 left. Chase County closed the game with the final six points, including two free throws with 9.2 seconds remaining, to secure the win.

Kyle Jaggers led Sidney with nine points, while Grahm Santero added eight. Zak Anderson paced Chase County with 14 points.

Sidney returns to action Saturday afternoon on the road at Yuma, Colorado, with the girls varsity game scheduled for 3:30 p.m., followed by the boys game at 5 p.m. The games can be heard live on 98.7 FM The Big Boy, online at thebigboy987.com, or on the News Channel Nebraska app.
