Nebraska volleyball comeback falls short in five-set loss to Texas A&M
LINCOLN — Nebraska’s season came to an end Sunday afternoon as the Huskers fell just short of a comeback in a five-set loss to No. 6 Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament Regional Final at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Texas A&M won 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 35-37, 15-13 in front of 8,650 fans at John Cook Arena to advance to the NCAA Semifinals. Nebraska finished the season 33-1, while the Aggies improved to 27-4.
The Huskers became only the third team this season to drop the first two sets, then rallied to extend the match. Nebraska claimed the third set behind a strong offensive push and fought off three match points in a marathon fourth set before winning 37-35 to force a decisive fifth.
Texas A&M held off Nebraska in the final set, pulling away late after the Huskers trimmed a five-point deficit to one.
Harper Murray led Nebraska with a career-high 25 kills, while Bergen Reilly posted a double-double with 58 assists and 13 digs. Rebekah Allick added a career-high 15 kills on .480 hitting with four blocks. Olivia Mauch and Reilly each finished with 13 digs, and Laney Choboy recorded 10.
Texas A&M was led by Kyndal Stowers with 25 kills and Logan Lednicky with 24. The Aggies out-blocked Nebraska 17-8 and held a slight edge in kills and attack percentage.
The loss snapped Nebraska’s 33-match winning streak and marked its first home defeat since December 2022. The Huskers finished the year with a school-record .351 team attack percentage and a 29-match NCAA home winning streak before Sunday’s loss.
