Northeast Nebraska natives give back to their alma-mater

NORFOLK, Neb.— Two northeast Nebraska natives are continuing to give back to the places they call home.
Jim and Barb Kanter committed to donating two annual scholarships to Northeast Community College totaling $50,000 a year.
Jim graduated from Northeast in 1975 and Barb from Wayne State in 1976. The couple met in Norfolk after college.
The Jim Kanter Annual Scholarship Fund will be able to give up to $5,000 to five or more students a year in HVAC, construction, and plumbing fields.
The Barbara K. Kanter Scholarship Fund is for business, marketing and management fields giving up to eight students up to $2,500 a year.
The couple also will give $5,000 to the Kanter Music Appreciation Fund to support students in music programs at Northeast.
Jim and Barb have given many donations to their alma-maters throughout the years, including providing funding for the Kanter Student Center at Wayne.
