KEARNEY, Neb. — News Channel Nebraska will televise the 2026 Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase, providing statewide coverage of one of the region’s premier high school girls basketball events.

The showcase, taking place at Kearney High on Saturday, Jan. 10, will feature eight matchups highlighting the top girls teams and student-athletes from across Nebraska.

"Girls basketball deserves this kind of exposure" Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase founder and organizer, Kelley Cooksley said. "These athletes and coaches have earned the respect and recognition that comes with playing in the showcase."

News Channel Nebraska’s coverage will span more than 12 hours, allowing fans who cannot attend in person to watch the games live on television or online with an NFHS Network subscription.

“Covering events like the Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase is important to our mission,” NCN Executive Director of Sports Content, Brandon Aksamit said. “We’re proud to help highlight girls sports, and the communities that support them, by adding this marquee event to our broadcast line up.”

The showcase will feature eight matchups:

  • 8:50 am - Mullen vs Arapahoe
  • 10:30 am - Thayer Central vs Alma
  • 12:10 pm - Oakland-Craig vs Cross County
  • 1:50 pm - Pender vs Millard North
  • 3:30 pm - Broken Bow vs Fort Calhoun
  • 5:10 pm - Ogallala vs Milford
  • 6:50 pm - Malcolm vs Central City
  • 8:30 pm - Kearney vs Gothenburg
