Scottsbluff tops Torrington; Chadron edges Alliance in duals
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — Scottsbluff and Chadron picked up team wins in high school wrestling duals Thursday night.
Scottsbluff defeated Torrington 44-31 behind eight match wins, including six by fall. The Bearcats opened with a forfeit at 106 and added bonus-point wins at 113, 120 and 126 to build an early cushion. Torrington answered with three straight wins from 150 to 165, but Scottsbluff pulled away with falls from Mason Schmer at 175 and Daylon Adams at 285.
Landon Johnson, Holdyn Quick and Carson Lucius earned pins for Scottsbluff, while Oscar Brown won by technical fall. Torrington got wins from Skylen Smith (132), Ty Albaugh (150), Colby Sandusky (157), Brendan Woodard (165), Brandt Eichenberger (190) and David Ibarra (215).
In Chadron, the Cardinals edged Alliance 31-29 in a dual that came down to the final bout. Chadron collected six wins on the night, including pins by Isaac Schmidt at 113, Tayven Jenkins at 157 and Braden Wright at 175. Layne Davidson added a technical fall at 165, while Colin McCoy and Bricen Wright picked up major decisions.
Alliance stayed close with a pin from Jett Childers at 126, a technical fall from Coy Childers at 138, and falls from Trini Trejo at 144 and Lucas Weber at 215. Andrew Benzel and Colter Tolstedt added decisions for the Bulldogs in the loss.
