A call came in Sunday afternoon for a threat of multiple bombs located at specific areas of the Grand Island Casino Resort.

The Grand Island Police Department determined it was a swatting call they received around 2:15 p.m. A swatting call is one when law enforcement is contacted with false information.

A full investigative search by GIPD included a sweep of the spots in question and many other areas of the property. They also checked casino security video and cleared the Heartland Events Center as a precaution.

There were no explosives or weapons located during the extensive process, and, according to GIPD, they have concluded there is no active risk.

Authorities determined the phone number was spoofed by a third-party system.
