Kearney named one of the top 100-arts vibrant cities in the U.S.
KEARNEY, Neb. - Central Nebraska's arts scene is drawing attention nationwide, with Kearney being recognized as one of America’s most artistic communities.
The recognition comes from the 2025 Arts Vibrancy Index, with Kearney being the only Nebraska community to make the list of 100-cities.
According to the index, Kearney boasts nearly 800 independent artists, more than 250 arts and culture nonprofits and a workforce that rivals much larger communities.
Officials said this recognition reflects years of investment and collaboration by artists, volunteers and local organizations.
“Kearney truly is the cultural heartbeat of Nebraska. It is an honor working alongside so many talented artists and creatives every day. This recognition affirms that we live in an incredible community that supports and values the arts with their attendance, donations, and volunteerism. We could not do what we do without the help of everyone around us.” Said Steve Barth, Executive Director of Crane River Theater.
The index recognizes the top 10 percent of arts-vibrant communities across the country. Kearney ranked #87 overall
