Knights Sweep As Girls Cruise & Boys Fight to the Finish

NORFOLK - The Norfolk Catholic girls and boys swept Lutheran High Northeast Friday night, but in distinctly different fashion.
The Lady Knights breezed to a 60-20 win behind 16 points from bench player Haydin Fuchtman, as Catholic streaked to a 23-2 first quarter lead and never looked back. Madison Gordon and Grace Kosch each chipped in 8 points for the Knights, and Lexie Dinkel led the way for the Eagles with 7.
The titanic tilt between the Knights & Eagles boys lived up to the hype, tied at 14-14 after one. Norfolk Catholic went on a 12-0 in the 2nd and led by 3 at the break. The two teams traded haymakers in the 2nd half before Catholic pulled away for good late in the 4th. Gavin Schutt (20), Leighton Burbach (15) & Callen Marshall all finished in double figures, while Ian McDonald paced the Eagles with 20.
Norfolk Catholic (8-8 girls, 13-3 boys) are at O'Neill on Tuesday, and Lutheran High (0-16 girls, 11-2 boys) host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge that same night.
