LEXINGTON, Neb. — The host Lexington girls wrestling team delivered a commanding performance Saturday, rolling to the team title at the Higgins Girls Wrestling Invite with 230.5 points and a wide margin over the rest of the field.

North Platte finished second with 169 points, followed by Gering in third at 135.5. Lincoln Southeast placed fourth with 100.5 points, while Aurora and Scott Community tied for fifth with 95 points apiece. Thirteen teams competed at the invite.

Lexington crowned multiple champions, including Natalie Ramirez at 105 pounds, Delilah Solis at 135, Rylee Church at 145, McKenzie Furgison at 190 and unbeaten Ashley Najera at 235. Najera, a senior, capped her day with three falls, including a 33-second pin in the championship match.

Gering picked up key individual wins from Rileigh Dane at 100 and Kaydence McKee at 120, while Lincoln Southeast champions included Maia Ruben at 125 and Raye Aldag at 140. Cozad’s Abby Negley won the 110-pound title, Goodland’s Landin Von Lintel claimed gold at 115, and Hastings’ Jazleen Alvarez captured the 170-pound championship with a quick fall.

Sidney finished 13th with 15 points, highlighted by a fourth-place finish from Ravyn Lee at 105 and a sixth-place result from Monro Stewart at 170.

Gordon-Rushville edges Scottsbluff to win Hemingford girls invite

HEMINGFORD, Neb. — Gordon-Rushville used balance across the bracket to capture the team title at the Hemingford Girls Invitational on Friday, finishing first with 92.5 points.

Scottsbluff was close behind in second at 88.5, followed by Ogallala in third with 86 points. Bridgeport placed fourth with 63.5, narrowly topping Kimball (63) and Chase County (62). Host Hemingford finished seventh with 58 points in a 15-team field.

Gordon-Rushville earned key wins from Kynsleigh Krebs at 110 pounds and Stormy Tesch at 145. Grace Freeseman also finished first at 105, and the Mustangs added points throughout the lineup to hold off Scottsbluff.

Scottsbluff picked up individual championships from Harper Fenner at 135 and Jazmyn Garcia at 190, while also getting a runner-up finish from Valeria Arellano at 130.

Bridgeport crowned two champions, with Elizabeth Menke winning 115 and Morgan Amateis taking 120. Cammie Rader added another title for the Bulldogs at 140.

Kimball’s Barbara Earley won 100 and McKenzie Howard captured 235, helping the Longhorns stay in the top five. Ogallala’s Jalie Barnhill won 125, while Chase County’s Paige Owens claimed the 130-pound championship and Hayley Rusher won 155.

Hemingford earned a title on its home mats as Sofia Gomez won 170, and the Bobcats added a pair of third-place finishes from Teagan Yale (100) and Carle Welling (140).

Bayard holds off Hemingford to win boys invite

BAYARD, Neb. — Host Bayard edged Hemingford by 1.5 points to win the Bayard boys wrestling invitational on Friday.

The Tigers finished with 65.5 points to Hemingford’s 64. Minatare placed third with 51.5, followed by Garden County (49.5) and South Platte (43) in a 12-team field.

Bayard’s title push was fueled by two individual champions. Nolan Dueker won 126 pounds with a major decision over Hemingford’s Andrew Miller in the final, and Jared Perkins captured the 190-pound championship with a pin in 1:09 over Hemingford’s Josh Miller. Bayard also got a third-place finish from Coy Armstrong at 150 and a runner-up from Aiden Schultz at 215.

Hemingford answered with a championship at 215 from Owen Plog, who pinned Schultz in the title match. The Bobcats also added key points with Ryan Ragsdale finishing second at 106, Gus Butler taking third at 132 and Grayson Hunter placing second at 175.

Hyannis produced two champions, as Dillon Hebbert won 106 with a fall over Ragsdale and Danny Taylor claimed 157 with a technical fall in the final. Banner County also went 1-2 at 120, led by Wilbur Reichenberg, while Minatare’s Tripton Stec won 150 and South Platte’s Drake Arensdorf took 138.

Garden County had a strong upper-weight showing, with Jase Roberson winning 165 and Colt Roberson taking first at 175.

Scottsbluff wins Chadron Duals; Bridgeport takes seventh

CHADRON, Neb. — Scottsbluff claimed the team title at the Chadron Duals, defeating Natrona County 45-34 in the championship match to finish first in the 10-team tournament.

Natrona County placed second, followed by host Chadron in third and Valentine in fourth. Mitchell earned fifth place, Central finished sixth, and Bridgeport placed seventh after a 42-30 win over Valley in the seventh-place match. Chase County defeated Ogallala for ninth.

Bridgeport went 2-3 on the day and finished strong with wins over Ogallala and Valley. The Bulldogs defeated Ogallala 46-30 in round three, powered by falls from Micah Conley at 132 pounds, Daxton Malcolm at 175 and Kooper Rahmig at 285. Illias Lehman added a technical fall at 157, and James Jeffords earned a technical fall at 150.

In the seventh-place match, Bridgeport again relied on bonus points, with pins from Logan Freiberger (120), Daxton Malcolm (175), Ryker Norman (190), James Cano (215) and Kooper Rahmig (285). Lehman also picked up a forfeit win at 157.

Earlier in the duals, Bridgeport dropped matches to Natrona County (62-18), Mitchell (48-34) and Chadron (48-30). Lehman and Malcolm were consistent bright spots, each recording multiple wins by fall throughout the tournament.

Chadron secured third place with a 41-34 win over Valentine, while Mitchell defeated Central 45-36 to finish fifth.
