Ogallala sweeps into Southwest Conference basketball championship games

Top seeded Indians advance on both the boys and girls sides after semi-final wins.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -Top-seeded Ogallala advanced to both championship games of the Southwest Conference Basketball Tournament after dominant semifinal victories Friday.

The Ogallala girls defeated Broken Bow 60-13 to reach Saturday’s final. They will face Holdrege for the title after the Dusters edged Gothenburg 45-42 in a thriller.

On the boys side, Ogallala defeated McCook 79-33 to advance to the championship game. The Indians will take on Cozad for the title after the Haymakers defeated Dawson County rivals Gothenburg 59-47.

Championship games are set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at North Platte Community College.
