SIDNEY - Sidney Regional Medical Center began resuming public services this week.

With restrictions easing, hospitals are allowed to go back to doing elective surgeries statewide.

In his conversations with Nebraska Medicine, SRMC CEO Jason Petik says the organization advises if we use common sense, keep social distancing and travel only when necessary, there shouldn't be a reason we can't begin to reopen our economy.

"SRMC opening our organization back up to the community as a resource, so that people can reach out for that care, is a manner of which we can start to do that," Petik said.

SRMC has been working closely with the Nebraska Hospital Association, Governor's Office and several different large health organizations trying to find out what makes the best sense in-terms of reopening services.
