OGALLALA - Westbound traffic is being denied access to Interstate 80 and Highway 30 at Big Springs because of vehicle crashes and limited services in southeast Wyoming.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation closed both roads from Big Springs to the Wyoming border Sunday morning. Interstate 76 in Colorado remains open.
"Multiple crashes blocking all lanes eastbound and westbound, and many slide offs, on I-80 have caused closures again," Wyoming road officials said. "We are working to clear the roads and will open as soon as it is safe."
Gusty winds created blizzard conditions, closed roads and filled services in cities like Cheyenne on Saturday night. A high wind warning continues along I-80 around the Laramie area until 5 p.m.
The length of the closure is unknown at this time.
Interstate 25 in Wyoming is also closed from Casper to Cheyenne. It's expected to remain closed until at least Sunday evening.
